Principal Message

From Principal Dr. Robert Studly

May 4, 2026

I can’t believe the school year is almost over and graduation on May 22nd is right around the corner.  This year our graduation ceremony will be held at Osceola Heritage Park at 9:30 AM on May 22nd  But, before it is, we have some very, very important end of the year (EOY) exams that our students must take.  First Seniors; if they have yet to achieve a passing score on either of the Algebra I End of Course (EOC) or the Reading EOC, those seniors will have multiple opportunities over the next few weeks to pass these exams and others that sever as concordant passing scores.  We are offering the Algebra I EOC, the Reading EOC, the CLT, and the Geometry EOC (which counts as a passing score for the Alg. I EOC).  Seniors who need a passing score can also go to the testing center at Valencia College and take the CLT once every 30 days.  There is a cost of $30, but if you pass, it’s well worth it.  Also, students can sigh up for the SAT on June 6th, they must register by May 22nd, or the ACT on June 13 or July 11th.  Students must sign up by May 8th and June 5th respectively to sit for either of those exams.

Additionally, prior to graduation, all students who have taken U.S. History, Geometry, Biology, and/or Geometry, must take the EOC for each of those courses as it counts for 30% of their final grade.  Students who do not sit for those tests will receive a zero for 30% of their final grade, that could negatively effect their final grade.

11th grade students are also encouraged to take every opportunity to pass those important End Of Course and End of Year exams.

10th grade students will be taking the Fast Reading exam and the Best Alg 1 EOC.  Both of these  exams are extremely important for graduation purposes.  If the student earns a level 3 out of 5, they are considered “at grade level” and they will have met the state requirement for testing and will be well on their way to graduating on time.

8th and 9th grade students also take end of year exams.  The purpose of these exams is to see how the students are progressing.  Are they earning a years worth of growth?  These scores are very important to the student as it may require them to be placed into some remedial coursework.  These scores are also important to the teachers and the school, as this is how we receive our COMMENDABLE rating.  For the past two years, Zenith has earned a Commendable rating which is the highest rating a school of our kind can achieve.

I know that the testing requirements can be confusing.  If you have questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s guidance counselor, they can tell you all that your child needs to graduate.

Lastly, There are some seniors who may need summer school in order to earn graduation.  Summer school will start on June 2nd for those seniors who can complete their final courses and earn graduation by the end of the summer.  There are a few (very few) places available for Juniors who may earn graduation early, those students will be invited individually by the school.  We hope to get as many students as possible to walk across the stage on May 22nd, but if some students need summer school to make it, we also have a summer graduation, being held this year at Gateway H.S. on July 30th at 2:00 PM.
